“Let me tell ya ‘bout the birds and the bees…..”
My very sage friend made a wonderful comment yesterday in regards to relationships. She said,
“I don’t want to do battle with someone whose sword is clean.”
It makes sense, and made me realize that it’s okay to have scars, some that show and others that don’t because going through things is what makes us mature and shows us as the fallible human beings that we are. If you have no war wounds have you ever really let yourself love?

Best line ever.
I pull you to me, carelessly undone in my haste,
Hands slide sinuously if hurriedly
and these fingers of mine greedily explore the length of your back.
Your weight compressed, that flesh binding me down,
it’s what anchors me to this moment,
it gives me to you.
I want to look at you as one who doesn’t need you.
I want to give you the grief I secretly keep.
It stains this bed in its silence, but you don’t see it.
Your eyes are shut tight, protected in passion,
ensconced with the promise of a relief through this temporary bondage.
Your hands tangle in my hair like an afterthought
and as the grip tightens, so my heart braces for you.
Each beat becomes a strained veil of pain,
they stand naked among the fruitless trees of this union.
I stare to the heights of heaven
engrossed by the duality of this relentless cycle
and I am wrenched away in shivers,
as your heat fades into the empty darkness of your absence,
leaving my sheets cold with this longing forged in ruin.
